Panelist will discuss the demographic and geographic information on who is being affected and the help that is available, the financial resources that the state is channeling to combat the epidemic and how the supportive housing strategies that have worked in the past might inform our future programs

The State of Supportive Housing Resources Across Populations

This two part panel will explore the current available resources for housing supports across the spectrum of special needs populations. Housing Vouchers provide a key source of assistance enabling affordability and independent living to tens of thousands of disabled households. Today, vouchers come from several different sources and navigating the options available, procedures for acquiring them and parameters around keeping them vary.

Additionally, services may be delivered in a variety of different housing combinations. We will hear from experts working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled, behavioral health and addiction service specialists and those working to move people from homelessness to permanent homes.  Moving forward we can see how different funding sources may require different advocacy strategies to make more housing available.

Strengthening Capacity and Making the Case for Supportive Housing

Several years ago SHA gathered stakeholders together to think about new investment tools that might grow the supportive housing industry. Today a panel of supportive housing leaders will discuss a new "Supportive Housing Fund" that will provide financing for purchase, construction and development specifically for affordable supportive housing. Moving forward, data collection will play a key role to document the impact that makes the business case for supportive housing and future funding.
